Realistic Animal Drawings inspired by John James Audubon

Students in all grades discussed the work of John James Audubon, a nature artist well known for his over 400 paintings of birds in their natural habitats. Students selected an animal from various photos to draw from using pencil and then adding detail and color with colored pencils. Below are photos from the 3rd and 4th grade class.

Still life inspired by Impressionist Paul Cezanne - "Apples & Oranges"

Kinder through 2nd graders discussed Paul Cezanne's work and the type of art known as "still life". They looked closely at colors and shapes used in his paintings. They then drew their own still life using pencil while looking at a bowl of apples, oranges and pears. Using colored pencils, they colored them as realistically as possible. Here are a few photos of the kindergarten and 1st grade class at work.
