Sketchbook Assignment #10 - Life Cycle of an Egg

DUE FEBRUARY 4

Date shown are the dates the assignment is DUE.
Assignment must be completed in your sketchbook, or you will earn a zero.  
Grades for sketchbooks will be out of 10 points and based on the following:

·  Drawing must fill the entire page (3 points). 
·  Drawing must use full color or shading. You may use crayons, pencils, colored pencils, paint, etc. (3 points). 
·  Drawing must show great attention to detail (3 points)
·  The date that your sketch is due must be written in the top right corner of the sketchbook page (1 point).

This week's sketchbook assignment: Life Cycle of an Egg

1. Write the title "Life Cycle of an Egg" at the top your paper. 
2. Come up with and draw AT LEAST three different steps in the life cycle of an egg (the kind you eat). Example: 2 eggs in the shell, cracked open in the pan, and served on a plate over easy. 


3. Number your steps.
4. Outline in marker. 


5. Color in with your choice of materials.

Sketchbook Assignment #9 - Texture Hand

Assignment must be completed in your sketchbook, or you will earn a zero.  
Grades for sketchbooks will be out of 10 points and based on the following:

·  Drawing must use full color or shading. You may use crayons, pencils, colored pencils, paint, etc. (3 points). 
·  Drawing must show great attention to detail (3 points)
·  The date that your sketch is due must be written in the top right corner of the sketchbook page (1 point).

This week's sketchbook assignment: Texture Hand

1. Trace your hand in the middle of your paper.



2.  Fill each finger with a different texture (5 total).  


3. Use the handout given in class as an example or create your own textures. 

4. Above the hand tracing, write "Texture" and the definition: used by artists to show how something might feel, what it is made of.  


5. This assignment should be done in pencil.

Sketchbook Assignment #8 - Sonia Delauney Circles

This week's sketchbook assignment: Sonia Delauney Circles

Sonia Delauney (1885-1979) was a Jewish-French artist who was famous for her use of strong colors and geometric shapes.  She liked to paint, design fabrics and stage designs. Sonia was the first living female artist to have a retrospective exhibition at the Louvre in Paris in 1964. 

1. Fill a page with 8 - 10 various sizes of circles.

2. Fill each circle with concentric circles to make large and small rings. 

3. Draw at least 3 lines with a ruler that dissects some of the circles. 
4. Trace all of the circles with a black permanent marker. 

5. Fill in your drawing with color, using crayons or colored pencils. Make sure to color completely and neatly.

Sketchbook Assignment #7 - "my hand" collage

DUE JANUARY 14

Date shown are the dates the assignment is DUE.
Assignment must be completed in your sketchbook, or you will earn a zero.  
Grades for sketchbooks will be out of 10 points and based on the following:

·  Drawing must fill the entire page (3 points). 
·  Drawing must use full color or shading. You may use crayons, pencils, colored pencils, paint, etc. (3 points). 
·  Drawing must show great attention to detail (3 points)
·  The date that your sketch is due must be written in the top right corner of the sketchbook page (1 point).

This week's sketchbook assignment: "My hand" collage

1. Using just a sheet of white paper, trace one hand in pencil and then with a Sharpie so that you can see the lines a bit from the back.

2. Cut about 6 of 7 big squares of magazine pictures that you like, about 2″ squares. Glue down the squares to cover the back of the hand cutout. All should overlap so no white is showing. Let dry completely.

3. While glue is drying, color you background with any color crayon(s) you'd like. Color it completely.

4. *Make sure glue is COMPLETELY DRY before doing this step* Cut out the hand from the marker side. Glue the hand in the center, and watercolor paint is applied around the hand, and faded to nothing with the brush.

Make sure glue AND watercolors are completely dry before closing your sketchbook!
